After two fantastic years working together, Macmillan Cancer Support are delighted to be one of the official charity partners of the Tour de Broads Cycling Sportive for a third year in 2017.
By 2020, nearly 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. It is our goal here at Macmillan to make sure that no one faces cancer alone and that support is available for people and their families when they need it most.
Last year our Team Macmillan cyclists raised an incredible £25,153 which could help our cancer support specialists run our Macmillan Support Line for a day. In this time, they could answer 561 calls and emails from people affected by cancer who want questions answered, need practical or financial support, or just want someone to talk to.
876 people in Norfolk made a call to our Macmillan Support Line last year, and with the number of people living with and beyond cancer set to rise, we need you to join our team and help us reach and support more people.
One of our participants from 2015, David Greer, said he would encourage anyone interested to take part.
“Just do it. Everyone is touched by cancer in one way or another. The care that Macmillan nurses give is world class and priceless. [The] Macmillan team were great on the day and very warm, friendly and supportive. Can’t think of anything you could have done better, it was all good.”
Team Macmillan will be there to support you from the moment you sign up to the event itself. We’ll provide you with loads of fantastic tips to help with fundraising and training, and on the big day will be there cheering you on and making sure you have the best experience possible. So make sure you don’t miss out on this opportunity and sign up today!
